The Group of Constant-Value Matrices

Now this one is really cool.

I would have bet your life on the fact that in any group of matrices, the identity is always a matrix with a 1 along the diagonal and 0 everywhere else. Nothing else is contemplated in an undergraduate maths course, and we were never confused by counter-examples. But here is one.
